Why this matters
Australian workers are not waiting around for employers to formalise AI plans. As more workplaces prepare for AI-related workforce change, worker behaviour is already moving faster than the systems designed to manage it.
At the same time, the business conversation around AI is shifting from experimentation to proof of value: whether the technology can deliver measurable productivity, trust and workforce capability gains. The support gap in Australian workplaces is clear.
Half of workers now use AI at least weekly and one in two say their use has increased over the past year. Yet only one in four workers say their workplace is highly prepared for AI, while many are teaching themselves how to use the technology without clear guidance, training or policies.
